Take a glowing crystal in the form of a torch. Immerse yourself in the beautiful scenery of the island as you discover new places. Put your mind to the test with the increasingly complex puzzles, and unravel the mysteries of the island. Here is a little hint, dont read if you dont want a little nudge - The key I think you are missing is hidden somewhere in the Crystal lab. Pour the water with eel on the dish between the unit and the stand. Quern Undying Thoughts is a first-person puzzle adventure game, inviting you on a journey to explore it and solve its challenges. Quern - Undying Thoughts Solved a puzzle using alternate solution, did I screw my game up (8 posts) (8 posts) (8 posts) Pages: 1. Apply on it the torch with a blue crystal (you found it in the basement of the building). Right of the window there is a stand of this device. It is located to the left of the round window. You find some device with a handle on the tables left. Return to the room where crystal laboratory is. ATTENTION! You need place the flask in a bowl with shells and then you lower the flask. I have followed a walkthrough I have, and even used hints from a You Tube walkthrough but I cannot seem to do the puzzle correctly and get the large wind up key. Turn the handle twice - to lower the hook with a bulb and pick it up. I am playing Quern Undying Thoughts and I am at the puzzle of lights where you receive the Large Wind-up key which allows you to go on the boat ride, if done correctly. So go back to the device and apply a spherical glass flask on its hook. Go up.ĭo you remember the device similar to the well equipment? Next to it you will find torch with yellow crystal and a note with a prompt to open the door. You can find a torch with a blue crystal right of the door on the other bench - take it. It is a testament to the remainder of the game that I recommend it nonetheless.Go down and take a spherical glass flask from a wooden bench to the left side. I had to alt-tab into Notepad to complete it because I couldn't write it down fast enough, and if your fingers are slow you may not be able to pass it at all. This is the single most obscenely frustrating puzzle I have ever experienced in a video game. The only slight issue with the game is there is little no guidance on what you're actually meant to be doing. You have to memorize eleven randomized blips that come at you in a rapid sequence, and repeat them back to where they came from in the precise sequence. Quern - Undying Thoughts is essentially a small, open world, adventure, puzzle game. The art direction of the game is interesting while some people have complained about the generally muted color scheme, to me it perfectly suits a forbidden land lost to time, and the environments and items are overall well-constructed. One of the cooler "archaeological" moments I had was (MINOR SPOILER, only open if you're on the fence) realizing that I could determine the color of the reagent that occupied an empty vessel by the drips of reagent that had fallen beneath its spigot. Puzzle quality is quite variable some puzzles feel entirely intuitive and natural, while others can be frustrating (there is one particular puzzle you should be aware of that I will make note of at the end of the review). The genre of "archaeological puzzler", most known from the Myst series, is not one that frequently sees new games due to the attention to detail required to make them work while not as refined or tightly produced as titles like Riven or Outer Wilds, and leaning more towards the Riven side of "semi-archaeological" (some puzzles still feel kind of arbitrary), Quern still presents an overall compelling experience with its own distinct flavor.
